COUNTY CAMPGROUNDS

Camping is permitted in the following park areas:

  1. Kanaha Beach Park: Five days a week  
    (CLOSED Mondays and Tuesdays)
    .

  2. Papalaua Wayside Park: Five days a week  
    (CLOSED Wednesdays and Thursdays)
    .

  3. One Alii Beach Park - Molokai

  4. Papohaku Beach Park - Molokai

PERMITS

  1. Applicants for camping permits shall be 18 years of age or older. .

  2. Any person or organization desiring to camp at a park shall first obtain a camping permit from the Director by applying for same in person or in writing to the Department of Parks and Recreation, County of Maui - Permit Office, 700 Halia Nakoa Street, Unit 2, Wailuku, HI 96793.

    Camp permits are issued between the hours of 8 AM - 1 PM, and 2:30 PM  - 4 PM, Monday through Friday, at the Permits Office at the War Memorial Gym (700 Halia Nakoa Street, Unit 2, Wailuku, HI 96793): (808) 270-7389.

Camp permits are issued between the hours of 8 AM - 12 PM on Saturdays, at the Permits Office at the Lahaina Civic Center (1840 Honoapiilani Highway, Lahaina, HI 96761): (808) 661-4685

    3.    Permits shall be limited to a maximum of three consecutive days for each camping site.

    4.    Any person or organization shall have in its possession a copy of the permit.

FEES

  1. Any person or organization applying for a camping permit shall at the time of application provide the following fees to the Director:

RESIDENT - Daily NON-RESIDENT - Daily
Monday-Thursday: Adult 18 years and older: $3 Monday-Thursday: Adult 18 years and older: $5
Children under 18:  $1 Children under 18:  $2
Pet:  $1 Pet:  $2
Friday-Sunday, Holidays:  Adult 18 years and older: $5 Friday-Sunday, Holidays:  Adult 18 years and older: $8
Children under 18:  $2 Children under 18:  $3
Pet:  $2 Pet: $3

Payment must accompany application
Please send money order or certified check.
No personal checks or credit cards are accepted.


KANAHA BEACH PARK CAMPGROUND RULES

  1. Permits are required for all camping at designated camp sites and must be displayed at the site at all times. Keep payment receipt for verification by Park Ranger or Security Staff. Site numbers 1-12 are available daily, except for Mondays and Tuesdays, when Kanaha Beach Park’s campground is closed for maintenance.

  2. Permit holders are responsible for the conduct of all campers in their group. Each permit is limited to 6 campers, 2 vehicles, and one licensed dog. All campers must be registered on the permit. Vehicles are allowed in the designated campground parking lot only.

  3. Campsites must be vacated by 12:00 Noon on check out day. Please leave your campsite clean and free from litter. Dispose of all trash in campground trash containers. Only campers issued permits are allowed to enter or remain in the campground between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

  4. Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM until 7:00 AM and are enforced. Please consider your neighbors and keep campsite noise low.

  5. No fires are allowed in the park or campground, except when used for cooking purposes in park supplied barbecues. Use of a personal barbecue or hibachi is allowed when placed in a safe location and does not impact other campers. No cutting of trees or foliage of any kind is permitted.
